JD and Joanne in Perth!

Day 1:

Touchdown. Uncle Gary picked us up and brought us to his home. Many changes since I was last here. The aviary is doing great, birds are beautiful and noisy as heck. The garden is amazing, lemon tree with boughs full of fruit, huge zucchini, a massive rosemary bush, rows of beets, and the most amazing garlic in the world! Its totally Jamie at Home, I swear. And the garlic is incredible! I'm totally going to bring a bunch home. Had a brilliant aussie BBQ for dinner: Lamb rump steaks marinated with JD's spicy rub (sounds wrong) and rosemary fresh from the garden, herb and garlic sausages from Woolies, grilled eggplant (from the garden), fried onions, and salad. Amazing. Too bad Joanne was feeling a little ill from too much vino too early in the day!

Day 2:

Uncle Gary's van that I was supposed to use broke down =( So we'll be relying on pedal power for the next couple of days. Bought a 2nd hand mountain bike for 65 bucks and a helmet for 17 from pawnshops. Pedaled around a lot. We got really tired and bumsore.. haha. The ride was really enjoyable otherwise though, cool and fresh air and lovely scenery. Shopped around at Rockingham shopping centre, Joanne cooked a brilliant spicy aglio olio for dinner (with the world's best organic garlic), and yummy chipolata sausages. Mmm! Then, repaired the bike a little and prepared for the fishing trip the next day!

Day 3:

Woke up early, pedalled really far to Point Peron, climbed across the crumbling precipitous rocks, and started fishing. Total tally at the end of the morning: 3 herring, 1 buff bream, 3 rock cods (2 were babies, released), 1 garfish, 10 blowfish (left to perish on the rocks). Not a brilliant day but not too bad either! Joanne hated the ride and climb though cos it was tiring. Haha.

(to be continued.... and photofied..)
