Happy Holidays

Its the holidays again. Time to enjoy and be enjoyed, good will to mankind, so on and so forth.

Actually, nearly 3 weeks of the holidays have passed leaving us poor dentals with a mere week of freedom left. Freedom from academic pressures, from stifling situations, from plaster of paris/monomer/mercury inhalation, from school, basically. I don't actually dislike school (in fact I rather enjoy it at times) but i've lost so much discipline and focus that I'm not quite sure whats going on. Dental school makes time pass so fast, before you know whats going on you're left in the dust holding a pen and a dental probe.

You're right, its not fun to be merely average.

But hey, its the holidays! When you may recharge your batteries and refresh your soul. But still, sloth and waste rear their ugly twin heads, and time, that eternal irreplacable resource, still drains away like bathwater down sinkhole.

I had big plans for this holidays, so many plans. But the best laid schemes o' mice an' men, gang aft agley. And now, its easy to feel guilty and pressure yourself, right? But, brother, its the holidays. Let it go. Whats the big deal? A couple of days of pure, chilled out rest will not throw your life off track.

So, my friend. Take it easy. Listen to some bossa nova, sip on a lychee martini as you lie on your hammock enjoying the ocean breeze. Wave a cheery goodbye as time passes by. You'll have to plunge back into the red oceans of competition eventually, yes, but not yet.

On a separate note, my girl gave me a real nice pair of adidas original mocassins =) Thanks darling. I promise not to be less grubby now.. Haha.

And I have nice new specs, Tag Heuer type frames that are really wide and actually fit my big fat head. I'm totally stoked about them. They look good, man.

And my christmas present to myself, a microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse combo! Gorgeous, with a 3 year warranty. Looks great and works great, baby.

My new policy for purchases is to buy only things which I can enjoy every single day. That way, when you break up the price its actually pretty cheap. I could save up for a new guitar, but how often will I play it? (How often do I even play the 4 that I do have?) So why not get a expensive but brilliantly designed keyboard and mouse that I'll enjoy everyday I use the computer? Its sort of like how you account for the purchasing price of, say, manufacturing machinery, over the lifetime of the machine, as opposed to a one-time purchase.

So, yea, I'm happy. In the meantime, if you're looking for a christmas gift for someone, why not get them a Kinda Naughty but Nice® game? You won't regret it.

Happy holidays, have a ball, paint the town red.
