Scent of flowers wafting

One of my main complaints of dental school, is that it saps up so much time+energy+concentration+life-force, just to avoid being sucked under the waves. What we learn is not extremely challenging nor extremely engaging, just that it all comes in a veritable torrent. From week 1 to week 9 of each term its a struggle to stay afloat in a flood of academic, clinical and patient demands.

Which only makes me appreciate holidays that much more! =)

"See the wretch, that long has tost
On the thorny bed of pain,
At length repair his vigour lost,
And breathe, and walk again:
The meanest flow'ret of the vale,
The simplest note that swells the gale,
The common sun, the air, the skies,
To him are opening Paradise."
- from "Ode On The Pleasure Arising From Vicissitude " by Thomas Gray

This holidays, I went for a short vacation to KL and Penang with Joanne, Wyelynn and Yi Lin. It was a pretty good trip =) While it didn't -really- feel like travelling because, lets face it, Malaysia isn't that far different from Singapore, it was nice to just hang out the whole day without a single serious thought crossing my mind. Not to mention having food glorious food as the sole aim of each day. And the girls are good travel buddies too! But next time, somewhere further alright? Haha. And I feel so blessed to have Joanne by my side. The trip was to a large part her idea, as was the itinerary. Its good to have a capable, intelligent girlfriend thats cute to boot =) Think this is our 4th trip together overseas (excluding Johor), and its always the best. Love you, dear!

So its just 3 more days to school, now. The final stretch, the end is in sight (the Chariots of Fire theme is running through my head now, no kidding). Most of my lady friends are already working, and finally us men will be joining them. Its about damn time! Though I do wonder how things will change when work starts, how my life, my habits, my worldview will differ... Not much, I suspect. Haha. Well, all the best to those of you looking for jobs now, and to the fortunate ones who've already had good offers, my heartfelt congratulations.
