Sydney!
Sydney was brilliant!
Places visited:
- Surry Hills (so cool so fashionable so hip)
- Darlinghurst (ditto, plus lots of indian food)
- Sydney CBD (like Singapore, but with better weather and friendlier people)
- Chinatown (like any other Chinatown, but better food)
- Paddy's Market (reminded me of Bangkok. or any pasar malam)
- Darling Harbour (oh so pretty at night)
- Sydney Aquarium (puts the underwater world to shame)
- The Rocks (market was great fun, and we saw PM Lee and his entourage drive pass!)
- Manly Beach (surfers don't feel the cold)
- Sydney Harbour (ferries are fun to take)
- Opera House (much more beautiful in real life)
- Harbour Bridge (uhh, like the golden gate bridge, but green)
- Botanic Gardens (beautiful, but no roses)
- Westmead (dental hospital was rather antiquated)
- Strathfield (DFO! great shopping!)
- Parramatta (nice mix of the old and the new, and the ferry back to Sydney was fantastic)
- Bondi Beach (beautiful and totally not overrated. at least while we were there, mainly because it was the Festival of Winds, aka Aussie kite festival! during APEC, no less)
- Dee Why (apparently the original aussie surfer town, gorgeous beachfront cafes)
- Palm Beach (gorgeous beachfront housing)
- The Entrance (pelican bay! lots of fishermen, a carousel, children's trains, cotton candy!)
- Bateau Bay (incredible scenery, and many many paragliders flying around overhead)
- Gosford (feels more australian than sydney does)
- Artarmon (many pretty houses)
- University of Sydney (the quadrangle is totally classic)
And we still didn't cover so many cool places in Sydney! Let alone surrounding areas.. but Blue Mountain was foggy and Hunter Valley had dormant grapeless vines, so no big loss =p
Enjoyed the excellent weather, breathed lots of fresh air, met loads of people, cooked lots of food (Wagyu wagyu wagyu), ate more food (Oporto's, Spice I am!), saw lots of things (paragliders!), and basically had a brilliant time!
